1. What We Collect
Username, email address, and hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
Birth year, gender, education level, country, and city. All demographic fields are optional and can be updated or deleted at any time.
Your Declarations (ideas posted) and votes (Affirm/Deny). Votes include a snapshot of your demographics at the time of voting for statistical aggregation purposes.
2. How We Use Your Data
- — To operate the Platform and display your Declarations and votes
- — To generate aggregated demographic breakdowns of voting patterns
- — To compute positions in The Field and detect NULL Events
- — To send account-related communications (password resets, security alerts)
We never use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with data brokers.
3. Demographic Data & Aggregation
This is the most important section. NULL SOCIAL's core feature is showing who believes what — broken down by age, gender, education, and geography. Here is how we handle this responsibly:
- 01 Demographics are never shown individually. Only aggregated statistics are displayed (e.g., "73% of users aged 18-24 Affirm this idea").
- 02 A minimum of 50 votes per demographic segment is required before any breakdown is shown.
- 03 Vote demographics are snapshots — frozen at the time of voting. If you change your demographics later, your past votes retain the original data.
- 04 All demographic fields are optional. You can participate fully without providing any demographic information.
- 05 You can delete your demographics at any time from Settings. This will not retroactively remove demographic snapshots from past votes.
4. What We Do NOT Do
- ✗ We do not track you across websites
- ✗ We do not use analytics or advertising cookies
- ✗ We do not sell or share your data with third parties
- ✗ We do not use your data for targeted advertising
- ✗ We do not log IP addresses beyond initial country detection at registration
- ✗ We do not use your data to train AI models
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database with encryption at rest and in transit. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with a work factor of 10. Authentication uses JWT tokens with short-lived access tokens and revocable refresh tokens.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- — Access all data we hold about you
- — Update your demographic information at any time
- — Delete your account and all associated data
- — Export your data (Declarations and vote history)

7. Data Retention
Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymized statistics (vote counts, demographic breakdowns) may be retained as they cannot be linked back to individual users.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
